Astrology and the Year of Angels

I am delighted to be asked once again to write an article for
this year’s Gatekeeper News.
Well, have we made it to 2004 in one piece? The last three years
have been very powerful times for us all. How have we done?
Much has happened both externally in the world and internally
within us, leading to questions such as: Are we ready now to truly
walk our spiritual path? Are we prepared? Have we heard the call?
Recent years have been all about preparing for returning to our
centre of origin, reconnecting with the source within, and living
the life that reflects who and what we truly are. Astrologically,
the last three years have been about bringing to the surface what
stops us from doing this, recognising what prevents us from feeling
integrated and connected to the universe. We do not have to find
this connection outside of ourselves; that we come from the stars
is our birthright — magical yet true. We are being asked
to heal and release that which has blocked our source of abundance
and happiness from naturally flowing.
Many people are talking about the effects of what is going to
happen in 2012.
The Mayan elders are saying, “that far from ending, the
world will begin in 2012”, that we will go forward into
a new age “… if we can deal with the challenges ahead
of us in the next few years…”
We must be ready to take a quantum leap into the next cycle, not
carry unnecessary baggage with us, and make our journey lighter
and our travel more comfortable. My feeling is that major preparation
began in 1998 with a huge wake up call. The pressure to change
and grow has increased in frequency year by year, owing in part
to heightened planetary vibration. This, of course, has also affected
our molecular structure, as our two strand DNA is being reconnected
back to its original form. Some people say that we originally
had a 13 strand DNA, some say more and some less. However, whenever
another activation is added, the group evolves to the next level.
Divine wisdom seems to be guiding us one level at a time, year
by year, towards 2012. The shock to our system of returning us
back all in one go would be too much. This may explain why, during
this time, some of us are experiencing unusual physical and emotional
disturbances. Astrology can provide helpful guidance in trying
to make sense of such changes in our lives — the heavens
are clearly showing us this process happening.
This past year, 2003, has been largely concerned with reclaiming
back the power that we have given away at various times in our
past. To acknowledge that ‘yes, we are powerful’ is
a very difficult thing to do; this means that we have to stop
being victims, take back complete and full responsibility for
ourselves and the choices we make. By the end of 2003, it was
asked of us not only to reclaim our heritage (i.e. our power),
but also live this in our lives. It is one thing to believe we
are powerful, but it takes quite another leap to own that power
from the heart, thus empowering us to deal with whatever lies
ahead.
To use our power is our greatest fear. We make so many excuses
not to use it, yet alone own it … difficult enough even
to get to that stage! It is our fear of using our power that predominates
— these issues scare us greatly. And, of course, fear wastes
much of our energy. But use this power we must, for we are being
asked to take full responsibility for the custodianship of planet
Earth. We must take Gaia and ourselves into the next cycle. Where
we do not go, the Earth does not go either; are we not one and
the same? For ‘Peace on Earth’ will not exist if it
does not begin with You. The world mirrors what we are. Remember
the motto of the Grail Knights, “work on yourself and you
will serve the world”. Balance within brings harmony to
the world; by releasing your blocks to happiness and joy, you
release the same for the world; and by reconnecting with your
spiritual centre of origin, you allow the Earth to reconnect with
the Cosmos.
Universal law says, don’t try to change the world, just
change yourself and you will change the world.
As for 2004 – what have we in store? The major astrological
happenings are Saturn activating the fixed star Sirius and a powerful
‘Finger of God’ planetary line up, all happening in
June/July. Interestingly, the powerful months of 2004 are the
same as those in 2003, for this to happen sequentially in consecutive
years sends a very profound message to us all.
In last year’s article, I discussed the entry into Pisces
of the planet Uranus for the first time in 84 years and the implications
for the next seven years. Very interesting timing, leading us
nicely to 2011! It is as if the passage of Uranus in Pisces symbolises
coming to terms with the past and the ‘old’ age or
cycle, to release what no longer works and reclaim our lost power
and knowledge. We will feel a deep need to return to a more simple
and spiritual life.
This year, Uranus activates three fixed stars. Firstly, Sadelmelik
on 4/3/04, 6/10/04 and 17/12/04, bringing the energy of deep manifestation.
Secondly, Formalhaut on 13/3/04, 20/9/04 and 1/1/05. This star
is one of the four ‘Royal’ stars, denoting ‘spiritual
awakening’, ‘walking the spiritual path’, the
‘strength to defend and protect who and what you truly are
and believe in’, a trial/initiation/fight for a spiritual
truth or ideal.
Finally, Deneb is activated on 14/4/04, 10-14/8/04 and 3/2/05
in the constellation of Cygnus the Swan. This star, connected
with the shaman, the journey of self-awareness, the hero/heroine’s
journey, has beautiful implications for our progress. The Swan,
the personal bird of Venus, Goddess of Love, represents ‘the
living manifestation of light itself’ and the balance of
opposing forces. The movement of these fixed stars reflects earlier
themes of taking responsibility at soul level. And Uranus is the
planet that awakens us to who and what we truly are — sometimes
rudely!
These Royal stars were once called by many names, such as: the
Watchers of the Heavens, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse,
the Four Evangelists, the Four Archangels and the Four Guardians
of Heaven
These have been observed for centuries, for, whenever the are
activated, they herald times of change. Remember that Uranus will
take 84 years to return to these stars, so make the most of these
times.
Uranus in Pisces is ruled by Neptune, which is currently in Aquarius,
the sign ruled by Uranus. Astrologically, planets residing in
eachothers ‘homes’, as it were, are known as a mutual
reception. As Neptune and Uranus move so slowly, this will be
the case from 2003 to 2012. A rare combination of two powerful
outer planets working together to bring forth a new spiritual
age.
The sign of Pisces carries karmic wisdom of the past; Uranus is
the awakener and Neptune brings the ability to see through illusion.
Since 2003, we are beginning to see through our illusions or dis-ease
and challenge our core beliefs in order to find our true identity.
Cracks begin to appear in the false defensive armour that we have
happily worn for much of our lives in order to cope and survive.
Now the call is ‘these have served their purpose’,
and need to be shattered and let go of, or they will destroy you.
This can be a painful process. Instead of feeling safe in this
‘armour’, it will start to close in on us; we will
start to outgrow it and feel imprisoned by it. Who is going to
crack first, the armour or you?
In 2004, Neptune, for the first time in 165 years, activates the
Gate of Power in Aquarius, also known as ‘the Angel point
of Humanity’.
It is noteworthy that Angels are very much in our mass consciousness
at this time.
Gates of Power are the midpoint of the fixed astrological signs,
long regarded as karmic points. They denote ‘the activation
of evolved souls to fulfil their destiny’. Neptune is on
this Gate of Power on these dates, 9/4/04-26/6/04, 1/2/05-28/2/05,
16/8/05-1/10/05 and finally 20/11/05-1/1/06. The number of hits
is of some note.
As a rule, planets go backwards and forwards in their cycle, hence
some degrees of the zodiac get ‘hit’ more than once.
This is just like receiving advice from a teacher. Sometimes we
need just telling once, sometimes three times, and if we are really
not listening, then four to five times before we get the message!
So what do we need to hear from the Angels? During the years 2004-2006,
we will need more than ever to listen to our Angels in whatever
way that means to us individually. Listen we must, for they will
be communicating much more deeply than ever at this time to help
us on our journey. So please ‘tune in’ in order to
hear their messages.
Hear and look around you with expanded awareness at these times.
The True Nodes in 2004 will be activating the ancient festivals
of Beltain and Samhain (as they operate in polarity) from 25/5/04-20/6/04.
Beltain is all about the sacred marriage of opposites, the doorway
to the otherworld of spiritual powers, celebrating the return
of lost parts of us. Samhain is concerned with letting go of what
is no longer useful. May and June are interesting months, for
again like 2003, the Nodes, which provide the direction of growth
of one’s soul path, lead us into the sacred months of the
year.
The last time the Nodes were in this position was 1985, what cycle
is now ending and what is beginning for you? The Nodes are in
the Taurus/Scorpio polarity, two of the four fixed signs of Karmic
Atonement.
Also note that from February 2004-August 2005, the South Node
moves through the part of the zodiac that the ancients called
‘the Fiery Road’, implying that we will be given the
opportunity to transform past life memories.
Now we come to Saturn, in 2004 moving through the sign of Cancer.
Saturn’s ancient titles are the Teacher, the Wise One, Lord
of Karma, Lord of Time, the Dweller at the Gateway and Keeper
of the Keys to the Gateway — all very interesting mythologically.
In astrology, Saturn represents our greatest fears. What do you
fear most? Where do you resist change and growth? What lessons
do you need to learn? You can always guarantee that Saturn’s
placement in your birthchart represents what and where your greatest
fear lies! Where else would a good teacher focus? To encourage
us to face up to our fears and reclaim our power of course.
The current focus of Saturn’s teaching is on blocked emotions
from the past. Much will surface now to be cleared and released.
Family scripts, core scripts and beliefs are to be challenged
if necessary. The home and family is highlighted and the housing
market may slow down. There may also be a reduction in spending
and more awareness of saving for a rainy day. A deeper appreciation
of reclaiming things from the past, a move towards simpler lifestyles
and family values a kinder way of treating eachother and the planet.
Saturn will activate some interesting fixed stars this year, such
as Alhena on 4/5/04, denoting ‘on a mission’, and
spiritual orientation. There is also a Lunar Eclipse that day
as well, and Mars is on the Stargate, the fixed star Betelgeuse,
indicating soul awareness. Neptune is about to station on the
Angel point, i.e. stop right on this point! Jupiter is also stationary.
So this will be a very powerful eclipse! Truly a day to reconnect
and listen to your Angels.
The next star that Saturn activates is Sirius on 17/6/04 bringing
one of the major events of 2004 (note, only one hit, which I feel
is very significant!). Sirius, some believe, is ‘the Guardian
of the Galaxy’, Isis receiving the seed of Osirus/Orion
in Egyptian myth. In 2003, Saturn activated Orion at a very significant
time in its history. Now, in 2004, Saturn takes the seed of Orion/Osirus
to Sirius/Isis, symbolising a re-enactment of the myth of the
conception of their divine child Horus.
Sirius is in the constellation of Canis Major, one of the brightest
and largest stars in our night sky. Being only eight and a half
light years away from Earth, it is one of our nearest neighbours.
It is said that Sirius protects the stars, is the sun of the sun,
the super ego, the centre of personal identity, the higher centre.
She connects people to the cosmos, the source, bringing the spirit
of wisdom and illumination to Earth, holding this frequency for
the activation of our higher consciousness. She stands at the
doorway to another world — said to be the resting place
of Isis. Believed by the ancients to be the central sun of the
Milky Way (the Nile in the sky), Sirius makes ‘the ordinary
sacred’. She is understood by many mystics to hold the evolutionary
key to Earth’s development and clearly has an important
role to play in the future of our planet.
Some believe that were seeded from Sirius during Atlantean and
Egyptian times; perhaps we may experience far memory of our origins
reactivating within us now.
This activation of Sirius links us to a quantum evolutionary leap
on planet Earth; it ‘brings immortality at the cost of the
burning of the ego’. If Sirius is activated in your birthchart,
you are said to be ‘in service of Isis the Goddess’,
linked to this star system.
It is quite remarkable that during these past two years Saturn
has activated very important stars at the time of the Solstice.
As Saturn has a cycle of approximately thirty years, this particular
alignment is quite rare.
In this current time in history the Sun on the day of the Solstice
is exactly on the Stargate of Orion/Osiris.
Last year, Saturn joined the Sun on this point. In 2004, the implications
of the importance of Saturn activating Sirius at the same time
are enormous, for here we have the divine marriage seeding humanity,
with Neptune on the Angel point!
Sirius is activated by the Sun on 5/7/04, Mars on 29/05/04 and
Venus 22/08/04, so mark well these dates.
Saturn moves on to Canopus on 24/6/04, a star associated with
pathfinding on life’s journey, and after Sirius, the second
biggest star in the sky. Like Sirius, this star is also connected
with Osirus and the Nile. Canopus is in the constellation of Argo,
known as the great ship, ‘the lighthouse of the universe’,
hence the term ‘pathfinder’. This will be a very good
time to realign to your ‘path’ and find your way ‘home’.
Remember Louisa May Alcott’s quote, “I’m not
afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship”.
Prior to this are the Alchemical New Moons on 20/3/04 and 19/4/04.
In the tradition of alchemy, these are the best times for the
transforming process. The 19/4/04 is of particular note, a Solar
Eclipse in Aries on the degree of Atonement, the last degree of
the sign, giving the potential to complete the learning process
of that sign. When this degree isactivated by a planet or a Lunation,
as in this case, a Solar Eclipse, it is of special importance.
The theme in 2004 of “are you ready to use your power?”
is emphasised by these two New Moons in Aries!
Mars opposes Pluto at this time, as if to highlight the theme
of use/abuse of power, especially in the way we communicate our
beliefs.
The next Alchemical New Moons are 19/5/04 and 17/6/04. The latter,
you will notice, is the same day that Saturn activates Sirius!
This new moon is on Orion, so this day will be a very sacred day.
In the chart of this New Alchemical Moon, Neptune is on the Angel
point, Nodes on Beltain/Samhain, the Ascendant and Point of Fortune
on the Galactic Centre of the Universe. Quite amazing, with the
New Moon exactly on the horizon line, i.e. the angles of the chart.
Pallas Athena is on the Stargate, indicating a strong feminine
power will open up the ‘gates’.
July 2004 is similarly cosmically flagged, with two Full Moons
this month. Whenever this happens, the second [31/7/04] is always
regarded as sacred. The New Moon on 17/07/04 is the same day as
the Finger of God in the Heavens — awesome timing! Mark
well these Lunations from March to July, for again, the cosmos
is highlighting the sacred months of the year.
From April-August 2004, the Sun, Venus and Mars all enter the
sacred space, called the Duat stars in the Milky Way, ‘the
Place of Heaven’ [Mars from 23/04/04-29/05/04, the Sun from
12/6/04-6/7/04]. Throughout the ages, any planet activating this
area has been associated with the timing of change. Venus transits
this space for an exceptionally long time [30/04/04-22/08/04].
She stations on both Orion in May and Aldebaran, the Royal star,
in June. Some connect this star to the Archangel Michael, ‘He
who is God’. Then in June, Venus passes in front of the
Sun, an astronomical event, reinforcing the theme of masculine/feminine
issues.
Another Royal star activated this year is Regulus, the star of
Kings, Cor Leonis, the lion’s heart, in ancient times associated
with the birth of Divine Kings. The Sun is on Regulus on 22/7/04,
Mars 10/8/04, and Venus 3/10/04.
Saturn connects with the star Castor on 4/8/04 and from February
to April 2005, then connects with Pollux on 30/8/04, 21/1/05 and
19/5/05. At these times we will be challenged by the duality symbolised
by these famous twins to find a middle path. In myth, Castor represents
the mortal twin.and Pollux the immortal twin, i.e. the material
and spiritual worlds. Times may not be easy as we struggle with
the light and dark sides of our nature, the opposites within and
without, until we find our own sense of balance and wholeness.
The last star that Saturn activates in this period is Procyon
on 5/9/04,19/12/04 and 12/6/05. This is the star of the healer
[activated by the New Moon of 17/7/04]. It is of interest that
this star has also been called the midwife and as we have had
Saturn activating the conception of the ‘divine child’
on 17/6/04, could these dates show the birthing process? The birth
of the Divine child within us all.
In August 2003, Jupiter, traditionally the planet of expansion
and growth, entered the sign of Virgo, the Goddess, known as‘Queen
of the Heavens/Stars’, traditionally the Earth Mother/Demeter/Inanna/Isis/Virgin
Mary/Mary Magdalene, etc. On 10/9/04 Jupiter activates the star
Labrum, which is connected with the tradition of the Holy Grail,
the Magic Caldron, the Chalice of Wisdom/knowledge/plenty/spiritual
power, the womb which carries the seed of God. Interesting implications
with Jupiter, the God Zeus in Greek mythology, activating Labrum
(the universal womb) while in the sign of the Goddess (Virgo)
in the same year that Isis receives the seed of Osirus from Saturn.
Jupiter then moves on to the degree of Atonement for Virgo from
20-25/9/04, Mars also hits this degree from 24-26/9/04 [Mars entered
Virgo on 10/8/04]. So here we have Zeus and the spiritual warrior
conjunct on the degree of Atonement for the Goddess. Is this a
call for us to make a stand for the healing of the Earth?
Jupiter then connects with the degree of beginnings in Libra,
the sign of relationship and balance [25-29/9/04]. Mars will be
here too on 26/9/04. So during these dates, two very powerful
planets are in the same place at the same time! In Celtic astrology,
a planet entering a sign, i.e. at 0 degrees denoted a time of
new beginnings. A void, a cauldron of possibility, to be filled
with positive intentions for directing its energy towards what
you want to manifest in the forthcoming period.
With Jupiter in the sign of Libra for a year, this is a wonderful
time for harmonious expansion and growth in relationships. So
plan well your intention on those dates, make the most of this
opportunity to direct the balance of power and abundance in your
relationships.
Jupiter then moves on to activate the star Vinedemiatrix on 12/11/04,
9/5/05 and 2/7/05. This star represents ‘He who comes to
save’ — these times may well bring up healing of relationship
issues. Jupiter also conjuncts the star Caphir on 13/11/04, 6/5/05
and 5/7/05 bringing the energy of prophecy. Jupiter then moves
on to the Fiery Road from 12/12/04-26/3/05, 12/8/05-19/1/06 and
18/4/06-17/9/06 emphasising a continuing period of intense transformation
in relationships, unresolved issues beneath the surface asking
to be addressed.
Finally, we come to the major event of the year, a Finger of God
appearing in the Heavens. The other names for this are: a Yod,
Finger of Fate, the Ultimate Destiny, and Pointer of the Stars
— a rare planetary alignment, this year taking place over
many months due to the slow progress of the major planets involved.
The Yod formation looks and behaves very much like a dowsing rod,
a Y shape, with two planets at the top, Jupiter and Saturn, and
Neptune at the bottom, drawing our attention to the point, so,
what is this one pointing to? Neptune on the Angel Point!
Its influence starts to build up in the autumn of 2003, with Neptune
on Imbolc (new beginnings in spiritual growth), culminating in
July 2004 with Neptune on the Angel Point. Once again, a sign
pointing to times of change. This is the mission we are being
pulled towards, challenging us to release blockages and move towards
growth and transformation, let go of the past, dispense with illusion
and open up to the cosmic/universal heart within.
The word Yod means to experience union with your higher self/God/Goddess/source.
It is Hebrew for the number 10, the number of completion/perfection.
The Hermit, the seeker, and the initiate represent the Yod. This
configuration in a birthchart always indicates an initiate who
is guided, i.e. the ‘Finger of God is upon them’.
Most amazingly, in July 2004, Mars joins this Yod as it moves
onto the activation point, i.e. the midpoint between the two top
planets (Jupiter and Saturn) and opposite the finger planet (Neptune).
This is what creates a rare Tetradic Yod. All of these planets
are lined up in a sacred Finger of God, with Mars triggering the
lighting of the touch paper! This activation forces us to move
to where the finger is pointing and creates a very powerful energy.
It is as if we are being catapulted into the arms of Angels!
Incredulously, this culminates on the New Moon of 17/7/04, coinciding
with the rising of Sirius! The chart for this New Moon is stunning!
We now have not one, but two Tetradic Yods happening on the same
day! Mars and Venus form at the top, with Saturn at the midpoint,
pointing to Juno, the Asteroid of relationships. This is truly
beautiful, for here we have the male/female planets pointing to
the Goddess of relationships, activated by the strong influence
of Father Time (Saturn), showing that we will reach this point
of balance. Juno on the star Vega also brings compassion.
I see a real potential this year for balancing the opposite sides
of our nature, both inwardly and outwardly. It is very interesting
that Saturn, our teacher, does not just stand back and present
the lesson, i.e. the Yod, he takes an active role in forcing the
activation of the process, i.e. the Tetradic Yod. It’s as
if the cosmos is saying, “we will make you transform, we
will not just guide you (Yod), we will force you (Tetradic Yod)”.
When we see such happenings, it is clear that we will learn the
lesson as pressure culminates to force this transformation. So
plan well for 17th July — a truly beautiful day to connect
with your Angels!
From July 2003-July 2004 we are in the Mayan year of the White
Spectral Wizard, a Galactic Activation Portal year. Emphasising
a rare combination of energies, a year of release and change,
of letting go of what holds you back from reconnecting with the
cosmos.
So, a year of Wizards and Angels! I wish you well on your journey
and hope that you will find the balance, power and sense of union
that you are here to enjoy.
The intention of giving the dates of this year’s activations
is to enable individuals to participate in these cosmic events
by ‘tuning in’ using the themes mentioned, drawing
on the inspiration gained for one’s own life journey.
